WATER FOR LIFE

Posted Friday February 15, 2019 by admin

Water is source of life. It was narrated that Sa’d bin ‘Ubadah said:
“I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what kind of charity is best? ‘He said: ‘Providing drinking water.'” (Sunan an-Nasa’i 3665)

About 3 million people in Cambodia lack access to safe water and 6.5 million lack access to safe drinking water. Because about 77% of Cambodians live in rural areas, they do not have access to safe water and sanitation. In some areas, poor people use the lake’s ponds to eat and cleanse themselves when the dry season reaches the Trapeang Lake, and the lake is dried up, causing serious problems for people living in rural areas.

Since 2012, in collaboration with our partners and donors from worldwide, to date, CACIG has installed 5297 wells in rural areas Kompong Chhnang, Tbong Khmum, Kratie, Kompong Thom, Kompong Cham, Kompong Speu, Kompot and Porsat province. Water wells that we construct will provide clean, safe drinking water to tens of thousands of people in rural villagers. By providing clean and safe drinking water, these wells reduce water-borne illnesses and drastically reduce economic burdens on poor families. The long-term effects of these wells enable villagers to grow vegetables during the dry season.
